2021.10.27 23:25 wildpothos My boyfriend (24M) and I (24F) are at different places in life. What is too different to make work?

My situation:
-full time student, going back to get a masters to become a registered dietitian, I have 3+ years ahead of me, I need to uphold a 3.9 GPA in organic chem, anatomy, biochem, etc so I spend many, many hours on school
-work part time (self employed with my mom's family business), I do not make a lot of money
-I live at home with my dad, his wife, and step-daughter
-I am very social, extroverted, go out and go hard on weekends

My boyfriends situation:
-pursuing a career in art, works less than 10 hours a week, makes $8k/year
-not using him petroleum engineering degree, can't find a job
-lives with me (and my dad, his wife, and step-daughter)
-very introverted, most of his social interaction is time with me

We are great friends. We have a polyamorous relationship that works great. I see other people, especially people who identify as the same gender as I do. Money is tight between us. Sometimes it is hard to get the groceries we want or fill up a car with gas. We fight about our situation a lot, living at home, money, etc. I am fully online for school now but am suppose to move 4 hours away to where my school is located to start in person in January. I will have to take out big student loans in the next month or so to put a deposit down on an apartment, cover tuition, etc since my job doesn't pay that much and school is intensive so I can't really work more. My sleep schedule is usually from 5am-1pm because of school. It just works for me. This is hard for us. At what point do we give up on this relationship? It takes so much of my time. I feel like it is neutral in my life, equally positive and negative. I could see a marriage type situation between us but I don't want to get married until I'm at least 30 and kids (a hard maybe) way after that. I love my career.

2021.10.27 23:25 htmlman1 Funny scam at McDonald's

Not sure how common this is but I just had a guy watch me order. Then when the order was ready, he walked up, angrily demanded it ("it's a chicken sandwich! come on!") and walked out. I suspected he was doing something like that and asked to see the order number on the bag but he had already ripped it off and refused to show the receipt.
Of course it was no big deal, just meant I had to wait a few extra minutes for my food, but just figured it was a funny strategy.

2021.10.27 23:25 telefune New SMP server for long term survival players who want to make friends.

We have this new server. It’s brand new really, and pretty undeveloped. I’ve been the only one on for a few days and I’m looking to build a town with others who want a place to survive with others long term. It’s vanilla. Come survive with me, I’m a groovy guy.
Rules are simple, no hacking. And of course no grief. This is waste of your time. The server backs up several times a day. We try to keep it 18+ and mature.
We also encourage the use of discord voice chat. In fact I’m going to be suspicious of anyone who doesn’t use it. We feel that it’s a better way to communicate and play together. It’s easier to be Minecraft buddies this way.
That’s it. There’s no theme or anything, just a place you can help get going. If you’re interested drop your discord and I’ll add you. Also, upvote because algorithm.

2021.10.27 23:25 danialgoodwin LTE Discovery v4.34 #NewRelease

I'm back at my real job this week, so updates will be a little bit slower unfortunately. Last week's code-a-thon was a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to doing it again.
The focus of this release was UI enhancements. The app is now much more friendly to first-time users (and all users). There's less hidden functionality with the new menu buttons. And, some accessibility has been improved too.

We're also doing our best to respond to as emails as possible. Even though we may not respond to all emails, we do read all of them.
Current rollout is to 30% of users.

2021.10.27 23:25 mrsbones287 Graduated 9 Oct (+ flooded the delivery room)

First time poster, so apologies if the formatting is off, or any other blunders. Oh, and this is long...
I'm a FTM (39w + 3d) and on Saturday 9 October (9/10 - Aussie) my husband and I welcomed our DD into the world at 7:21am after a night of much excitement and no sleep.
In the lead up to our LO's birth we had recently moved house and made the VERY intelligent decision to start renovations on the nursery immediately, in the hope that she would wait until they were completed before making her grand entrance. Spoiler - she did not. That week I had been frantically sanding the edges of the parquetry floor, then my husband white-washed and varnished. Needless to say, I spent many hours on my hands and knees and squatting, which might have helped get her into a good position. Not sure if I recommend it as a preparation method though - it definitely aggravated the hip and nerve pain, and didn't help with the swollen ankles.
On Friday evening, my husband was re-installing switch plates and power points in the room in a race with the dwindling daylight. Having completed that job on dusk, we felt some relief as we had almost completed the room, sans curtains, architraves and trim. We thought we'd have everything finished the next day, so settled in for a chilled Friday evening enjoying pasta, wine (husband) and a tv show. My neuropathic pain had been playing up that day and I was getting the occasional mild cramp (contraction) so I thought I'd get settled into bed for the evening at 9pm. Just as I sat down on the bed, I thought I'd wet myself. I quickly jumped up, rather embarrassed that I could now add "loss of bladder control" to my pregnancy symptoms and made my way to the bathroom. The leaking didn't stop.
"Hmm" I thought "That may have been my waters. But I'm a FTM and it's not common for labour to start with breaking the waters"
I put on a pad and called L&D who asked me to check back in half an hour. I nonchalantly informed DH that my waters may have broken and we needed to get ready to go to the hospital. He wasn't convinced, but got ready regardless. After 30 mins I was still leaking so L&D asked me to come in. We called DH's parents and asked them to meet us at the hospital so we could give them keys to the house and instructions on how to feed the Watson.
After a quick handover in the hospital parking lot, we entered the hospital laden with a snack bag and our pillows, much to the bemusement of the emergency receptionist (after hours entry) and made our way to L&D who also thought we were a bit too organised - the consequence of being a hospital frequent flyer and type A personality. We did the paperwork, we're shown to our "birthing suite" then I was checked. Yep, waters had indeed broken but 0cm dilated with mild contractions every 2-3 mins. I asked for a yoga ball. The first one was too small (175cm/5'9") and the second was flat (note to self - pack a small handheld bike pump next time).
I tried the bath instead. It was NARROW! So after a warm bath, some breathing exercises and calm music I was ready to try the TENS. Well, they needed to monitor me first. I forgot about the TENS. Then the contractions kept coming, so I asked for the gas. That was good until about 3am when everything started to get more intense. I started vomiting due to the pain, so into the shower I went to get cleaned up. It was most comfortable to labour on my hands and knees in the shower, so the midwife thoughtfully brought in a padded mat to protect my knees (and in the process covered the shower waste). Next thing I know DH is being berated by another midwife for flooding the bathroom and delivery room!
So I was dressed and walked down the corridor to a new (dry) room. All whilst having contractions every 2 mins and being told to stop making so much noise by the second midwife (she wasn't my favourite person).
At this point I was 7-8cm dilated and seriously wanting more effective pain relief than the gas, so I was connected to a fentanyl PCA and started to seriously question whether I should have had my spinal cord stimulator (SCS) ever installed (I can't have an epidural as a result). All the time focusing on my breaths and listening to peaceful piano music in an attempt to manage the contraction and nerve pain.
Apparently at 6:30am I was 10cm and it was time to push. Instinctively I wanted to scream, so I did for the first push, until reminded that it was helpful and to instead focus on my breathing. I don't recall much, other than focused breathing, pushing and the fact I kept pressing that blasted PCA hoping for some more relief and getting none.
By 7:21am our little girl was born, safe and healthy.
A few notes: 1. I needed a episiotomy as it got a little tense at the end with her heart rate dropping. 3. LO needed oxygen for 3 mins post birth and they were the scariest few minutes of my life. 2. I did NOT look in a mirror (personally, some things don't need to be seen), nor did I reach down and touch her as she crowned. 3. I really wanted to get a c-section by the end 4. Contractions + nerve pain make for a horrendous combination 5. Don't forget to use the TENS machine. 6. Check where drains are and do not cover them! 7. The human body is amazing and recovers incredibly quickly.
